Forest Products

Forest products (firewood, pine straw, mistletoe, etc.) are sold in accordance with The Sikes Act (16 USC 670) and DAFMAN 32-7003 Environmental Conservation.  Forest product sales must be coordinated, in advance, with the installation forester.  All revenue generated from forest products are returned to the Natural Resources Office for use in forestry programs. 

Firewood:  All fire wood permits are per day (no maximum load or trip limit). The installation forester will coordinate the date and location where firewood can be gathered/cut.  JBLE-Fort Eustis DOES NOT provide tools or equipment for handling firewood. Firewood cutting, gathering, splitting, and transport are done at the permitee's own risk, JBLE-Fort Eustis is not responsible for property damage, injury, or loss of life as a result of participating in the forest products collections. 
PRICE: $10 per day

Other Forest Products:  Other forest product availability and sales will be determined at the discretion of the installation forester. Permits for other forest products will be per load (amount not to exceed a pick-up bed or 5'X10' trailer). Please contact the installation forester for forest product sales other than firewood.

Red Imported Fire Ant Quarantine: 
Logs, soil, debris, and other forest products are regulated under the USDA and Virginia Dept. of Ag. and Consumer Sciences (VDACS).  Forest products will not be transported out of the imported fire ant quarantine zone without prior approval from the installation forester and VDACS inspector.  Current counties/cities within the quarantine zone include: James City County, York County, the Cities of Williamsburg, Hampton, Newport News, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, and Suffolk. More information and the current quarantine zone can be found here: https://www.vdacs.virginia.gov/plant-industry-services-fire-ant-suppressioneand-eradication.shtml
